Brief Description:  Rudder fairing installation...

I started today by trimming the rudder lower fairing as my original fitting had not accounted for the the lower end of the fairing aligning with the fuselage. Once the rudder lower fairing had been properly trimmed I wired the navigation and strobe lighting circuit. Next I connected the rudder cables to the rudder horn in the back and the rudder pedals in the front. Following this I fueled each fuel tank and ran the electric fuel pump to check the fuel system for leaks and for an operational check of the pump. One leak was found at the inlet to the mechanical fuel pump so I tightened the inlet fittings. Finally I started the process for calibrating the fuel quantity indicating system but found that the wiring I had installed was mistakenly wired to the hot battery buss and that presents a problem. So I disconnected the power lead for the capacitance adapter and temporarily rerouted the wire to the essential buss. However after this change the adapter "Zero" fuel calibration did not conform to the supplied literature so I will need to contact Princeton, the adapter manufacturer to consult with Tech Support. At that point in the day I had no more day light left to work with so I called it a day.
